I’m Maja, a passionate Exhibition Architect and Design Educator from Sweden, that spent a third of my life in the Middle East educating the young and open minded in Interior Architecture and Design for an American Design University in Doha Qatar. I thoroughly enjoyed working with students. At VCU School of the Arts faculty are able to divide their time between Teaching and Research, which allowed me to maintain my own design practice and engage in interesting projects building up the art scene from scratch in this desert metropol.
During my years as Head of Exhibition Design at Qatar Museums I designed and built shows of various scale for the booming museum industry in this rich Gulf country that is a cultural hub of the region. The result is what you see here; Exhibitions, Projects, Essays, and some Student Work. The blog features small snippets from everyday life Doha. Alongside my work in Qatar I completed a masters degree in Interior Architecture at RMIT School of Architecture in Melbourne, with the thesis project entitled Social Objects; Adaptability in Furniture Design, from Object to Spatial Proposition.
